I POSSESS NOTHING by Luis Cuauhtémoc Berriozábal

I POSSESS NOTHING I possess nothing. The night knows this. The moon shines me on. My dreams know I’m poor. I try to sleep and I struggle with it. My feet wear out the rug. I dream I have insomnia. I possess nothing. The night takes my last dime. I pay to watch the stars. There Is A Bird by Luis Cuauhtémoc Berriozábal

THERE IS A BIRD There is a bird that sings outside all the time as the sun begins blazing away. Inside I keep cool. The bird sings of desire. It wants to tell its tale. The tender song gets me out of bed. I fight the sun and make my way outside to start the day. The Ordinary Stars by Luis Cuauhtémoc Berriozábal

THE ORDINARY STARS So tired of looking at the stars that become so ordinary as I count them one by one. Perhaps I get tired of counting them instead of looking at them as something beautiful and not so ordinary. In His Hands by Luis Cuauhtémoc Berriozábal

IN HIS HANDS In his hands he holds the shadows and the sun that shines. Magically, he holds a rose and a yellow sunflower that Van Gough painted with his last brush stroke. He holds a gift that keeps on giving, a burning rose saved from oblivion. In his hands the world was born. CIRCUS IN THE SKY by Luis Cuauhtémoc Berriozábal

CIRCUS IN THE SKY Looking up at the constellations, Stars descended into the sea, The time passed by and it was night. there was a circus in the sky, slipping trapeze contortionists and smoke filled stars exploding, tight rope walking elephants, and star-crossed lovers floating. waves filled with electricity. In the morning the sun fell in too. Frenetic violinists performed at shore. Siren songs could be heard for miles. A flying fish flew to the sky. The stars wiggled around like worms. One star froze and then the rest followed. I desired to be one of them, full of light and sparkling. I wanted to join that circus in the sky. THE MURALIST WORKS by Luis Cuauhtémoc Berriozábal

THE MURALIST WORKS The muralist works in the clandestine hours. The moon and stars are his sentinels at night. His paints create rivers and rowing boats. The yellow and red ones create the golden sun. The muralist lifts the mountains and plains. At daytime the sun could see its face. He is always careful not to get caught between the wall and sword of justice. The ruins of the world contain the best murals. No one could get rich when they are destroyed. They are left to memories and to the ancient past. The muralist rubs his eyes after toiling all night. His teary eyes like his paints become rivers. His mountains and plains come alive at daylight.
