One Step Away by Melissa R. Mendelson

Image
One Step Away Behind the curtains of time, change is but only a step away, for without change, the world would be endless, caught in the same routine. Swept up in time, we march forward to the tune of change, but those who no longer hear the winds of change are left behind in a world gone gray. Only in time do we find our true selves and possibly why we were born, but for us to discover that, we must keep moving forward. Otherwise, the world will move ahead of us, leaving us with nothing but the past, and then we must wait to slip back into time and retrace our footsteps toward the unknown future. Pieces of Me by, Melissa R. Mendelson

Image
Pieces of Me White pages whisper in the wind, hovering low to the ground as I drag my feet, uncertain of where I’m going. Silence holds my mind as my eyes fall on darkness, afraid to face the dreams that beg to be lived not buried within. Alone I stand, surrounded by the pages that yet have to be written. The question burns in a heart left cold buried under vines of my soul if time will continue to walk ahead without a look back on the footprints fading quickly behind me? Will I become a ghost here, another blank face in the crowd, or will I find the courage to take the pen, write the pages that whisper in the wind? http://channillo.com/series/ lizardian/ Click here for Glass Skies Over Home on Amazon.com

Stone Cold Kiss by Melissa R. Mendelson

Image
Once upon a time, there was this little girl, who lived in the woods. She was raised only by her grandmother. Her parents, she never knew. Her grandmother once sadly slipped and said that her mother was the most precious fairy of them all, but alas, she died in childbirth. The father had no mention, and it was only after her grandmother’s passing did this little girl realize that her grandmother had been hiding her from the world, a world that she was now lost in, a world that never knew her name. Alone, she wandered, living off scraps and on the kindness of strangers. Nobody really talked to her. Nobody asked her about her name. They took care of her for one night and then demanded for her to be gone the very next day. At first, she was okay with this arrangement, traveling to strange lands and enjoying breathtaking sights, but one day when crossing the river, she spied a young man in a boat nearby, kissing a young girl. Why was he kissing her, the little girl asked, and the olde...

A Faint Trace of Light by Melissa R. Mendelson

Image
A Faint Trace of Light It wasn’t our first date. We actually had been dating for a few months now, but the dates were more of friendship than what he wanted. I knew that eventually his patience would run out, and tonight, it did. And his car ran out of gas, leaving us in a tight space, waiting on a tow truck, and it was here, where he made his move, not taking No for an answer. So, I left, now stranded in the cold woods that surrounded me. I could hear him yelling for me to get back into the car, but I ignored him. Maybe, if he wasn’t so rough, I would change my mind. Maybe, if he wasn’t pushing me into the backseat, I would say that I was wrong. I knew that eventually we would do it, but not in a car, not like this. This was all wrong, and suddenly, his car sprung to life. And he floored it down the road, disappearing from sight. I’m sure his car would die again, and I hoped that he too would be left stranded in the woods. But still, where did that leave me? It was gett...

Fragments of Yesterday’s Past by Melissa R. Mendelson Book Review

Image
Fragments of Yesterdays Past  by  Melissa R Mendelson Information and Ordering:   Amazon Fragments of Yesterday’s Past by Melissa R. Mendelson is an introspective journey exploring memories from days past.  It speaks to fear, anxiety and the negativity our own thoughts can bring to our lives. Melissa is a poet at heart with a storytelling style that I have always enjoyed.  Her works speak the truth from the heart and soul.  This particular book will have you, as the reader delving into your own past and becoming aware of feelings you have never expressed.  It will have you at times shedding a tear and other times becoming inspired. The poem Myself is an introspective look into a life of wrong choices who as a shy girl just wanted to accomplish her dreams. The poem Ivory Petal with a line that stood out for me as no other throughout the entire book is “Love is the dead rose in a cloudy vase.”  That one line encapsulates in my...

Crossing by Melissa R. Mendelson

Image
Crossing Across this bridge is another road that will lead us into the unknown and change us forever. Once we cross it, we can never go back but look over our shoulder to see the dust cover the past. On the other side of the bridge, we will follow the new path into territory full of possibilities, but our choices will determine how these possibilities will affect us. We will no longer find the road that will lead back to this bridge but find a new road to lead us to the next bridge when we must move on again. We will keep wandering in the unknown and come across many opportunities that will change our lives forever depending on what we chose to do, and this will be the course of life twisting and turning, following our choices until we have reached the end. http://channillo.com/series/ lizardian/ Click here for Glass Skies Over Home on Amazon.com

Plastic By, Melissa R. Mendelson

Image
Plastic A cold wind blows  as I stroll along  the empty path  through the dollhouse  and through the plastic  buildings that surround it.  The world is behind me,  and the blank faces  of the porcelain dolls  gives me no comfort  for they can't see  the woman inside me.  If I could just melt away  this prison  that I have been trapped in  for too long  and jump  back into the water,  I could swim again  in the river of life  and feel  maybe the love  of one  I wish for.  In the meantime,  my time is spent  here in the dollhouse  and the plastic buildings,  listening to the voices  of those empty dolls  living a life  that I dream.  http://channillo.com/series/ lizardian/ Click here for Glass Skies Over Home on Amazon.com

Humanity Within by Melissa R. Mendelson

Image
Humanity Within Cold nights  light the stage  of the loneliness  that I am imprisoned in.  The stars above still don't shine,  and your eyes still avoid me.  Am I the fear  of what could happen to you?  Am I your reality  if things get harder,  if your world falls apart? I am your shadow  as you walk past my cardboard box,  and I am in you,  the humanity  that you carry  but never tap into.  Here I lay,  starving at your feet,  asking for a few dollars,  or just for some food.  All you have to do  is open your heart,  open your mind,  and wrap me in the humanity  that you carry within.  Why should I  and those across the globe  suffer in poverty  when all we need  is for you to help  us stand back up  in this world?  The days would be warm,  and the nig...

Skeletons In The Closet by Melissa R. Mendelson

Image
Skeletons In The Closet by, Melissa R. Mendelson Green light seeped through the closet door as the door knob slowly turned, and I tossed and turned in bed. Darkness turned green as the door slowly opened, but the coldness shook me awake in time to turn on the lights. The door slammed shut as I jumped out of bed and approached the closet door. My hand hesitated on the knob before pulling the door open to reveal nothing. The dust bunnies greeted me while my clothes were pushed together, but there was nothing else in there except for corners of spider webs. I closed the door and headed back to bed, but something made me pause as I glanced back at the door. I pulled my wooden, brown chair over and leaned it against the door. I then curled up in bed and turned off the lights as green light appeared under the door, but the door remained shut. I shuddered beneath the white covers as the door knob continued to turn and whispered ...

Haze by Melissa R. Mendelson

Image
HAZE by, Melissa R. Mendelson Forget is what I am afraid to do, ignoring the dreams inside my heart that cry out in my mind to not disappear, but disappear they will, if I allow myself to forget everything that I ever hoped to become and do. My dreams will vanish, and it won’t be time that will steal them away. It will be the cloud inside my mind, fogging my thoughts, burying my dreams, and if I am lucky, I might remember them. Otherwise, forget I will the dreams of my future that could have brought true happiness and meaning to my life. http://channillo.com/series/ lizardian/ Click here for Glass Skies Over Home on Amazon.com

Ghosts of Me by Melissa R. Mendelson

Image
Ghosts of Me Glimpses of a ghost tells me that she is there still, and time has not made her fade away. The black holes of my life have not kept her, and the golden skies of my dreams has not found her. She is there beside me, and I am her in a blink. Inside me, she sleeps along the scars of my mistakes and of my nightmares, and she looks out into a world that still doesn't see me. They will is what my heart whispers, and I can feel time drawing close. The future is coming near. I was hoping to leave this person that I once was behind, but she is there holding my hand, a faded picture of me. We are ready to take on the world and see our dreams found. http://channillo.com/series/ lizardian/ Click here for Glass Skies Over Home on Amazon.com
